For the construction of a new bioethanol plant, a new Stillage Evaporation / Stillage Concentration System was built, designed by HPD Spain. An EPC contractor was awarded the full supply, installation and handover of the carbon steel and stainless steel ducting for this system and looked for a specialised installation partner. Leemberg Pijpleidingen & Apparatenbouw BV took on the installation of the stainless steel and carbon steel ducts, including crane work, scaffolding, NDT and project documentation.
Leemberg’s scope covered the installation of stainless steel and carbon steel ducts in large diameters, from Ø 400 mm up to Ø 1800 mm, with wall thicknesses ranging from 3 to 12 mm. This required precise measuring, high quality welding and a tightly organised execution using dedicated crane and scaffolding resources.
In addition, NDT, weld traceability and documentation all had to be fully secured within the project’s quality framework, while the work had to tie in seamlessly with the overall schedule and responsibilities of the EPC contractor and the bioethanol plant owner.
Leemberg installed the stainless steel and carbon steel ducts for the stillage evaporation system exactly to the specified design dimensions, including the planning and execution of all scaffolding and crane work, performing NDT on the specified welds, and securing weld traceability and project documentation.
This enabled the EPC contractor to complete the full delivery, installation and handover of the ducting scope to the plant owner as agreed.
