Client: Tank storage terminal operator
Sector: Industry – Storage & transshipment (chemicals / oil / gas)
Location: Europoort – Rotterdam, the Netherlands

To expand storage capacity at a major tank terminal in Europoort, Leemberg delivered all piping and related works. As part of this expansion, new tanks were installed with a total capacity of around 400,000 m³. Leemberg was responsible for the supply and installation of product and utility lines, supports and steel structures, including testing and commissioning.
The terminal operator wanted to significantly increase storage capacity with new tanks totalling roughly 400,000 m³. That required a completely new package of product lines and utility lines, including supports, steel structures and all related test and commissioning activities.
Leemberg had to execute the full piping scope – from supply and prefabrication to installation and testing – within a single project framework. At the same time, all product and utility systems (nitrogen, air, water, drains and firewater) had to be coordinated and integrated, while meeting all technical and regulatory requirements, including NDT and NoBo supervision.
Leemberg successfully delivered the full piping and structural scope for the storage expansion in Europoort. All product and utility lines for nitrogen, air, water, drains and firewater were supplied, prefabricated, installed and tested according to project specifications. The required steel structures, supports and small equipment foundations were included in the same contract.
Thanks to this integrated approach – from materials and installation to testing, NDT and NoBo involvement – the terminal operator was able to bring the new tanks and piping systems online in a controlled way, increasing storage capacity by approximately 400,000 m³.
