Client: Tank Terminal Operator
Sector: Food – Vegetable oils and fats
Location: Rotterdam, the Netherlands

A food-grade tank terminal in Rotterdam expanded its stainless steel storage capacity for edible oils and fats by 20,000 m³. For this expansion, the terminal brought in Leemberg Pijpleidingen & Apparatenbouw BV to supply and install the equipment and pumps, and to engineer and install several hundred metres of stainless steel and carbon steel piping – including steel structures and hot water tracing.
The capacity increase required a completely new package of piping systems, equipment and structures that had to be integrated into a live terminal with strict hygiene and logistics requirements.
Leemberg was asked to handle both engineering and execution within one project: a large volume of stainless steel and carbon steel pipework, including supports, steel structures, tracing and the installation of equipment and pumps. The new systems had to tie in seamlessly with the existing infrastructure, without disrupting ongoing terminal operations.
Leemberg Pijpleidingen & Apparatenbouw BV delivered the detail engineering, prefabrication and installation of the stainless steel and carbon steel piping, installed the equipment, supports and hot water tracing, and supported testing and commissioning – all as one integrated scope.
The expansion of the tank pit was brought online according to schedule and specifications. The terminal now has a food-safe, future-proof installation for the storage and handling of vegetable oils and fats, with safety, food hygiene and terminal availability safeguarded throughout the project.
